Just now seeing this. How cool! I want to add "Miracle Hour" by Linda Schubert. I read it for the first time today and it is a wonderful method of prayer that covers 12 different ways of praying in 5 minute sections.

Hmmm? Books that will be important for good Catholics in another 1,000 years?
Or books that are particularly recommended for Catholics living in this time?
Every single commenter has recommended only newly written Catholics books--a severe limitation of eyesight, in my opinion.
For Catholics living in all times, St. Augustine's "City of God" or "Confessions" should be high on the list. Also add writings of some of the Church Fathers. Include the collected sermons of St. John Chrysostom, a Saint recognized by both the Eastern and Western parts of the Church.
The great Saints of the Catholic Counter-reformation also produced very important books that have stood the test of time. At the top of the list would be "The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius" and "Attaining Salvation" by St. Alphonsus Liguori.
"The Story of a Soul" written over 100 years ago by St. Therese (and with millions of copies behind it), is a personal favorite of mine and had a big impact on one of my daughters.
I highly recommend that old and proven Catholic books be included on this Blogger's Choice Catholic Reading List. [TAN Books specializes in reprinting these very valuable and living antiques of our religion.]
