Adoration in May

My 8 year old son and I went to Adoration last week . . . . there is actually a story that lead us to Adoration but I'll save that for later. Pabs and I had not been to Adoration together since Christmastime. He was looking forward to our visit more than I realized.

That night our Adoration chapel was cool and surprisingly bright at dusk.
We stayed and prayed and I tried "listening" more. Some time passed . . .1/2 an hour or so.
I looked over at my son thinking he may be feeling restless and asked him if he was ready to leave. He was pouring through a book on Mother Teresa and he asked if we could stay longer.

My heart filled with thanks.

We stayed quite a bit longer. . . I tried to listen some more.

When asked what she says to God when she prays, Mother Teresa responded,
"I don't say anything. I just listen."

Then the interviewer asked her what God says to her.
"He doesn't say anything," she responded. "He just listens."

Going to adoration is so incredibly healing. Once, not too long ago, we had been having problems with our oldest son. Nothing too serious, but he had been creating a lot of stress in the family . . . especially at the dinner table. So that particular night, after another meal in which he gave us a hard time, I told him to get in the car and that we were going somewhere. I didn't tell him where we were going.

When we arrived to the adoration chapel, we sat together in the silence of God's presence. I remember offering my son to God and asking for help.

A few minutes later my son, with tears in his eyes, leaned forward and whispered he was sorry. When we exited the chapel we sat on the steps and had a long heart-to-heart talk. Then we went to Dairy Queen together.

God bless.

Bia, I so agree that going to adoration is healing. I find that sometimes I do not know what is wrong but I know life seems out of balance. Adoration fills me and . . . I can't even put it into words.
I love that you went to Dairy Queen after your talk. God and ice cream are a great combination! :-)
