Increasingly Decreasing

Life is a journey that only makes sense with God. I have been learning that and even more very serious lessons and I am not even close to finished.

This whole . . . . husband having a heart attack added to the ever dramatic and ridiculous foreclosure battle brings to mind two things:
1. I am so very grateful for all the wonderful blessings I have.
2. There is no growth without pain - no refining without some discomfort.

When speaking about Christ, John the Baptist said,

“He must increase; I must decrease” (Jn 3:30)

Ahh, but as simple as that statement is, as simple as it is to understand -- it is not so easy to do sometimes.

Here is an interesting Church calendar perspective:
John was born right after the number of days started to get shorter and Christ was born right after the number of days get longer (His birth is celebrated six months before Christ in accordance with Luke 1:36).

Here is a little history:
John the Baptist was the son of Zechariah and Elizabeth. He was beheaded because King Herod agreed to give Herodias whatever she wanted if her daughter would dance for him. Herodias convinced her daughter to ask for the Head of John the Baptist on a platter.

As someone who has gone through similar difficulties, the spiritual rewards outweigh the material stress.

God bless you.

You and your family will be in my prayers.

I haven't stopped by for a while. So sorry to hear about your husband's heart attack, and your mortgage problems.

Dear Father, Please be with this man, and give him good health and a strong heart. Please give him many more peaceful, pleasant days on this earth. Please work out the problems with the house in a beautiful, perfect way, so that that everyone will know it came from You - and You will get the glory for it.

In Jesus' precious name,
Amen
