The Last Acceptable Prejudice

Did you watch the women's figure-skating competition at the Winter Olympics? If you did, you saw the eventual champion, Kim Yu-Na, perform a flawless program.

You also saw her warm up, talk to her coach, wave to the crowd, wait for her scores . . .  You saw quite a bit of Kim Yu-Na.

But here's something that you didn't see, if you watched the Olympics on American television. When she took the ice for her long program, with the whole world watching, Kim Yu-Na made the Sign of the Cross.

NBC edited those few seconds out of the American telecast. To save time, I guess, so that we'd have another chance to watch the crowd applauding.

THAT . . . . IS AWSOME! And SO RIGHT!

I didn't know that! But, I'm afraid I'm not surprised. And, to think we watched way way more of that American downhill skiier singing offkey to her i-pod instead of being edified by that sweet girl. How I would have loved for my children to have seen her bless herself! I like her even more now. God bless her!

Did they really edit that out? How sad. It's actually one of the things I love about watching baseball...so many players making the sign of the cross. :)

I'm not surprised when the media does anything it can to slander Catholics these days including preventing the public from seeing public displays of Catholicism from successful individuals.
