Pope Benedict XVI Orders an Apostolic Visitation of the Legion of Christ

CNA says Pope Benedict XVI has ordered an apostolic visitation of the Legion of Christ and its institutions, in the wake of disclosures of sexual impropriety by the late founder of the order, Father Marcial Maciel Degollado.

H/T: Fr. John Zuhlsdorf of WDTPRS

Quote from CNA:

.- Fr. Alvaro Corcuera, L.C., General Director of the Legionaries of Christ, announced Tuesday that Pope Benedict XVI has requested an Apostolic Visitation of the institutions of the Legionaries of Christ that will likely begin after Easter.

This is just so sad. I mentioned before how I have several friends in the movement . . . they have all decided to leave.

Now some of the ministries that they introduced (Familia, Conquest, Pilgrim Queen) are in question.

I think that is wise. I pray it only strengthens their trust in GOD.
I hope those ministries will be sponsored or adopted by other apostolates or orders.
