Going Galt

As was said on "Laugh-In" many moons ago, "Verrry iiiiiineresting! . . . . "

I am not in the economic bracket to which Some Have Hats is speaking and in a very sad way I laughed reading some of the tactics mentioned in the stories sent to Dr. Helen Smith because we've almost always lived that way.
It will be verrry iiiinteresting to see how this plays out. Not fun, mind you, but interesting.
It's been awhile since I read the famed Ayn Rand novel, “Atlas Shrugged.”
I think I'll dust it off and take it to Dallas with me this weekend (as I head to my weekend gig).
A short bit of the post:
"Michelle Malkin has a very good post about the growing revolution against the insanity that is Obamaland. First she has a rundown on the Tea Party Movement. Then she has a good summation of the path I think we are going to end up taking -- a movement known as "Going Galt."

It's a very simple philosophy that can be summed up like this: maybe I don't want to work my butt off every day to give all my money to people who don't want to work their butts off.
While they take to the streets politically, untold numbers of America’s wealth producers are going on strike financially. Dr. Helen Smith, a Knoxville forensic pathologist and political blogger, dubbed the phenomenon “Going Galt” last fall. It’s a reference to the famed Ayn Rand novel, “Atlas Shrugged,” in which protagonist John Galt leads the entrepreneur class to cease productive activities in order to starve the government of revenue. (Not coincidentally, Rand’s novel sales are up and John Galt references punctuated many of the Tea Party demonstrations.) Dr. Smith was inundated with stories like these:"
And this dear readers is where you have to click over to the Hats blog to see if you, like I, already do these things. Let me firmly add, I wholeheartedly agree, "Tax hikes have consequences. Incentives matter."

I'm not at this income level either but I have to say, it's tempting to think that way. We should be raising our family first, NOT paying the government first.

Barb, I agree. Maybe some people who are looking to "Go Galt" will learn to appreciate spending time around the dinner table not the restaurant table . . . . learn to recycle rather than go retail. THAT would actually be a good thing.

I think our economy will experience the pendulum affect. I think things are going to get a whole lot worse before they get better.
I wonder about our country's values. . . will they get better or will we just destroy ourselves?

All I can say is, "I think we are in for an adventure."
