St. Thomas More was martyred for his unwillingness to compromise his faith in face of public opinion and political pressure. Ultimately, he is a fine example of Christian integrity.
If I had two souls, I could risk one, but since I have only one, I must save it.
St. Thomas More, pray for us.
A brief history refresher:
St. Thomas More was a great English thinker, writer, statesman, and martyr of the reformation period.
He was King Henry VIII's Lord High Chancellor. St. Thomas More lost his life when he chose to side with the Bishop of Rome in the 16th Century dispute which split the Church of England from the Catholic Church.
A Man for All Seasons is an even better history refresher. I highly recommend the movie!
St. Thomas More is the patron saint of lawyers, judges, and public officials.

St. Thomas More is one of those who by their courage gives others the strength to do God's will...I fear I do not have the courage. Or I guess I have not really been tested as he had been! He is one of my favorite saints for this very reason. Wonderful post~ Cathy
We named our youngest child for St. Thomas More. He is awesome. IF you can ever get your hands on the biography of his life called "A Man Born Again," it's a the best novel about his life I've read. He was not only a statesman of unheard-of integrity, and a pious intelligent man, but he was a wonderful, loving father to his children. The perfect saint for our times. Thanks for this great post!
I will definitely be on the look out for "A Man Born Again". Thank you for the heads up!
