St. Patrick Pray for Us

I went to bed last night praying that God would give me peace in my heart, freedom from anger and fear. The election was not really a shock but very disheartening still. My personal dilemma . . . . how to expel the negativity that the evil one can feed upon. How to find Christ in this new elected President. How to pray for him with a sincere heart.

This prayer helped me. It is part of The Lorica of St. Patrick and it is particularly helpful for me today. It is not Obama. It is Satan I detest. I will focus on God and ask God's protection. I believe that only with a humble and trusting heart will I be able to do God's will as I adjust to this new elected official. Even if Obama was your choice --- you and I and everyone will be dealing with the same struggles to work together now. I thought I would share. . . .
I summon today all these powers between me and evil,
Against every cruel merciless power that opposes my body and soul, Against false prophets, false laws and idolatry . . . .

Christ with me,
Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ in me,

Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,

Christ in the heart of every one who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of every one who speaks of me,

Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
St. Patrick (ca. 377)

St. Patrick, pray for us!
