Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill (UK)

Sometimes it just overwhelms me . . . the state of our society. Here is an example. Before you read it -- I say, good for you to The Archbishop of Birmingham, UK!

The Archbishop of Birmingham, UK, has spoken out against the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill, presently before parliament.
I found this information over at On the Side of the Angels. The post, entitled, Irony or Hypocrisy continues with a story of a Mr. Bathie who donated sperm to a lesbian couple. The couple has since split up and Mr. Bathie (after DNA testing) is being required to pay child support.
Here is the quote by Mr. Bathie that has me shaking my head in utter dismay,
"The only reason these children are here is because they (the lesbian couple) wanted children as a couple which means they should take responsibility."
Does he truly not see that the reason these particular children are here is because he donated his sperm??

I guess he bought into the man-made ruling that The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority in the UK enforces -- The HFEA said:
"We would warn men providing genetic material that the only time they are not the father is when they donate through a licensed fertility clinic. DIY (Do It Yourself) donors they are liable financially unless they donate through a licensed clinic. This does not apply to unlicensed websites or home insemination."

It is so convoluted and wrong that I am overwhelmed. Dear God help us.
