Mum2Twelve

There is a wonderful post over at Mum2Twelve.

It is called One at a Time. I found it via AWTY.

The Catholic Mom blog-o-sphere is quite lovely. I have found it to be a grounded, family focused, strong group of woman.

I would like to know what my 7th graders think after reading this post. Come back here . . . to Catholic Notebook and reply.

This post made me feel so good about my faith and other Catholics. This family is LIVING their faith, trusting God and making it all work. The sacrafices are worth it if you are doing God's will. I hope I always have this much faith especially when I am tested in life.

It is really amazing that a hundred years ago twelve kids would not be such a big deal. Now, any family over three is considered a big family. People ask about my "big family" and they think my mom and dad have a lot of kids. I only have three siblings. Families like these show that God is still working in the world and in our lives.

Being part of a big family myself (3 boys and 3 girls,me being the second oldest)I understand what it's like and the hardships that are included with a big family. I don't always get along with my brothers and sisters but a big family is a real blessing. But what I really don't understand is how parents manage all those kids!

I agree with julia's post. it realy is amazing. I have 5 siblings and reading the post and looking at the picture it makes me think my family is small. I wonder what the house sounds like, because in mine its not the quietest.

I thought it was amazing that they had twelve kids. My family has only three kids. However, I wish my family had seven or eight kids. My friend has seven kids in her family. My brothers friend has fifteen kids in his family including himself I really think having twelve kids is so cool

This post was very touching to me because my dad had 12 kids in his family not including his older brother who died at birth. Also I want a big family if I become a mom.

This mom has to be really flexible to handle 12 kids and all those schedules. Me being in soccer I understand how hard it is for my parents to schedule their days around soccer practices and games. I have 3 other siblings in soccer. Great job mum2twelve.

This mom has to have such a big house. I know I wouldn't be able to live without a fairly big house. I have a big family also and the house can get quite loud. I admire this moms ability to manage such a big family.

This post made me look differently about how my family is different compared to a larger family. I don't have a big family
(2 sisters). I always want to have the latest things. I didn't relize that you can get clothes at Good Will. That is really cool. I think if God wants certain people to have Big families then that is what they are ment to do.

I have always wanted a big family ,even though I like being the oldest. going out to dinner must be a exciting and andventure filled event. What kind of job does your husband have to support 12 kids? I think that the ammounts of grace God has given your family is amazing.

I think that was cool that you had 12 children and you taught them about the faith. I would find that hard making it more cool to me. My family of 5 is small compared to your family of 14. I find big families cool because your are not lonely. you have inspired me to live my life better and with more faith. Thank you far the great post.

I agree about that you would have as many kids as God would like you to have. when i grow up i will have as many kids as God would let me have.Is it a hasle to have that many kids??? but i bet its a blessing to have so many kids. is it fun?? hope everything is great ,

p.s- God works in many ways ...so i guess God has work in life

I am replyng to peggys post. I TOTALLY agree. Now if I was this mom I would really want a couple of priests and nuns out of such a big family.

Hi I'm Claybal. I like your blog. It must be tough to support 12 childrren. I have a sister who is in college, so its just me and my parents. I've never really wanted a big family, and I got what i wanted. Usually brothers and sisters fight and argue, but my sister and I are fine around each other. Good luck with the 12 children!

Claybal

this post made me think that my family is not big at all. i only have 4 brothers and sisters. i sometimes feel like my moms only paing attension to my sisters or my brothers. with your family that would be super hard. you are one really good mom.

When people usually ask me if I think my family is big I usually say yes, but I only have 2 brothers and 2 sisters. After reading this I realized that my family is not so big after all even if it feels like it. This article made me think about how much I will give to God. I think that those parents are really following their faith and they are really doing God's will. When I grow up I want to have a family that has good faith.

When I read your post I saw you are living your faith so well, many famalies dont give any time with god or even thank him for the wonderful blessings he has given to each and every person. Many famalies dont have that many kids like you, to see my family like that would be very big and differnt. I also have a big and small family I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters so with me that would be 6.Some famalies on tv dont fight and that is so weird to me because my famalies always fight,i sometimes wish that my house could be very quiet. Well hope the time with your husband and kids could last a long time.

This post is so interesting but what made me most impressed is how this family accepts how many children God whants for them even if he whants even more children for them. I also love the willingness this mother is capable of giving to listen and take care of every single one of her children individualy. I only have two younger brothers and no sisters. I have always wanted a younger sister and a bigger family because I have allways wondered what it would be like to have all those adventures big families have like in the movies. I think it is amazing how a mom can handel 12 kids!!!!!!!!

I loved reading all of these kids' thoughts. Thank you!

To the students of grade seven. I apologize for taking so long in fulfilling my promise to answer your questions. I have been ill for the past two months and finally today I began working on responses to the questions and started with the intention of responding to each comment personally but soon realized that I have not the energy at this time to answer so many comments, as wonderful as each comment was. So I will begin again tomorrow and confine myself to the questions only. Thank you again to all of your wonderful students for the awesome thoughts you each shared.

Blessings

I'M THE OLDEST OF 8, AND NOW MARRIED WITH 2 BOYS 2&1/2 AND 1 AND i'M DUE AGAIN IN JULY! IT CAN BE A BIT OF A TRIAL IN A BIG FAMILY AS A TEEN BUT ITS ALL GOOD EXPERIENCE AND YOU GROW SO MUCH FROM THINKING OF OTHERS MORE (AND IT WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER PARENT YOURSELF ONE DAY) IT IS JUST THE GREATEST!! I'M 28 AND MY 'BABY' SISTER TURNS 9 ON SUNDAY.
