Gay Couple Sues Surrogate For All She Has Because She Refused Abortion (Daily Wire)

The woman was about six months pregnant when the gay couple told her to kill the child.

Amanda Prestigiacomo

A gay couple is suing a single mother for an estimated $600,000 because she refused abortion after potential minor birth defects were discovered by ultrasound.

A surrogate in Canada says a gay couple told her to abort the baby she was carrying — which was created using a donor egg and one of the men’s sperm — at nearly six months pregnant over a possible cleft palate and a potential minor heart issue. A lawsuit obtained by the National Post says the couple is suing the woman for causing them emotional distress and not keeping them informed in a timely manner.

After the woman, who is not being named, refused to kill the child, the couple allegedly stiffed her on reimbursement for pregnancy-related expenses, lost income, and other costs, which were supposed to be paid per agreement. When the woman tried to take them to small claims court to try to get the $10,000, the couple hit her with an estimated $600,000 lawsuit.

“You know I’m a single mom, you know I have a daughter, and you’re basically suing me for my house. It seems very sh*tty, it’s just awful,” the woman said. “I just feel used … They didn’t get the perfect child they wanted and they threw me away."

In Canada, women are not paid enormous sums for surrogacy as they are in America; instead, they’re only allowed reimbursement for pregnancy-related expenses. The woman in this case said she decided to become a surrogate to help others. She said she was inundated with dozens of requests for surrogacy after she announced her intentions. She added that she chose the gay couple after much consideration.

After the woman told the partners about possible birth defects, which were a cleft lip, a potential cleft palate, and a possible minor heart defect, the couple said in a letter that they wanted their surrogate to kill the child.

“Considering that medical tests indicate that the fetus has, or is likely to have, a genetic, chromosomal or other abnormality or defect, and in accordance with article 8.5 (a) of our surrogacy agreement … we want to inform you of our wish that the pregnancy be terminated,” the gay couple reportedly said. “Although very difficult, this decision is free and informed.”

The request left the woman feeling “devastated” and a “mess,” she said.

She ended up delivering a baby boy through an at-home birth, which further upset the gay couple, who reportedly wanted the baby delivered in a hospital because of the suspected birth defects. The at-home birth was agreed upon in their original surrogacy plan.

Surrogacy has become increasingly controversial, with critics arguing that the process turns motherhood into a transaction, preys on the poor, and treats children like a product.

Pro-life activist Lila Rose posted about the lawsuit on Tuesday, writing,

“A same-sex couple is suing their surrogate for $600K after she refused to abort their baby at 22 weeks in Canada. Scans indicated the child had a cleft lip and a possible heart defect,” she said. “The little boy was born healthy.”

“That child is alive today not because of the men who purchased his life, but because the woman who carried him in her womb protected him. Children are not commodities,” Rose added. “Ban surrogacy now.”

The gay couple declined to comment on the matter, according to the Post.

Jesus Never Said Anything About Homosexuality, or Did He?

A great article by by Linda Harvey
Consider these facts:
  1. Jesus is never quoted in the New Testament as having directly addressed rape, incest, domestic violence or homosexual behavior. So are we supposed to believe all these practices are okay with Him? Read on. . . .
  2. Gospel writer and apostle John tells us there are many teachings and deeds of Christ that are not included in their New Testament accounts (John 21:25).
  3. Christ is quoted at one point that God created
people “in the beginning” as male and female, and that marriage is the union of one man and one woman joined together as “one flesh.” (Matthew 19:4-6 and Mark 10:6-9) Nothing is said about any other type of union.
  4. When He discussed sexual morality, Christ had a very high standard, clearly affirming long-standing Old Testament law. He told the woman caught in adultery to “Go and sin no more.” (John 8:11) He warned people that not only the act of adultery was wrong, but even adulterous thoughts (Matthew 5:28). And he shamed the woman at the well (John 4:18) by pointing out to her that he knew she was living with a man who was not her husband.
  5. Christ used the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah as dramatic examples of God’s wrath (Matthew 10:15, Mark 6:11, Luke 10:12, and Luke 17:29).
(Julius Schnoor von Carolsfeld) Lot & family flee Sodom & Gomorrah

Throughout the Old Testament, prophets described these cities as being notorious for the practice of homosexuality. (Genesis 18:20, Genesis 19:4-5, Isaiah 3:9, Jeremiah 23:14, Ezekiel 16:46-59). Jesus certainly knew that this was how the comparison would be understood.
  6. Most important of all, Christ was God incarnate (in the flesh) here on earth. He was the long-expected Messiah, Emmanuel (which means “God with us”). This was revealed in Matthew 16:13- 20, Matthew 17:5-9, Mark 8:27-30, Luke 4:16-30, Luke 9:18-21,John 4:25-26, John 8:57-59 and elsewhere. As one with God, He was present from the beginning of creation (John 1: 1-13; Colossians 1:15-17; Ephesians 3:9 and elsewhere).
So, Jesus was God as the laws were handed down through Moses to Israel and eventually to the whole world. This Old Testament law clearly prohibited homosexuality (Genesis 19, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13; Deuteronomy 23:18 and elsewhere). The apostles understood this also (as shown by Paul’s writing in Romans 1:24-27, Peter’s in 2 Peter 2:4-22, and John’s in Revelation 22:15)

So, the apostles, who were taught by Christ, clearly understood that homosexuality was a sin as it has always been. When people say, “Jesus said nothing about homosexuality,” they reveal that they really haven’t understood Scripture, or Who Christ was and is.

Maybe some of these points can lead them to a clearer understanding.

If your child's school allows 'Day of Silence' propaganda, keep your child at home April 20

Let your school officials know that if they are going to allow social and political action in class, your child will not be there.

The Day of Silence, which is sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), fast approaches. This year it will take place in most public schools on April 20. On this day, thousands of public high schools and increasing numbers of middle schools will allow students to remain silent throughout an entire day-even during instructional time-to promote GLSEN's socio-political goals and its controversial, unproven, and destructive theories on the nature and morality of homosexuality.

Parents must actively oppose this hijacking of the classroom for political purposes. Please join the national effort to restore to public education a proper understanding of the role of government-subsidized schools. You can help de-politicize the learning environment by calling your child out of school if your child's school allows students to remain silent during instructional time on the Day of Silence.

Parents should no longer passively countenance the political usurpation of public school classrooms through student silence.

If students will be permitted to remain silent, parents can express their opposition most effectively by calling their children out of school on the Day of Silence and sending letters of explanation to their administrators, their children's teachers, and all school board members. One reason this is effective is that most school districts lose money for each student absence.

School administrators err when they allow the classroom to be disrupted and politicized by granting students permission to remain silent throughout an entire day.

Visit this website for complete information on opposing the Day of Silence.

TAKE ACTION

1. Call your local schools and ask whether they permit students or teachers to remain silent in the classroom on "Day of Silence." IMPORTANT: Do not ask any administrator, school board member, or teacher if the school sponsors, endorses, or supports DOS. Schools do not technically sponsor the Day of Silence. Technically, it is students, often students in the gay-straight alliance, who sponsor it. Many administrators will tell you that they do not sponsor the DOS when, in fact, they do permit students and sometimes even teachers to remain silent during instructional time. Also ask administrators whether they permit teachers to create lesson plans to accommodate student silence.

2. Find out what date the event is planned for your school. (The national date in 2012 is April 20, but some schools observe DOS on a different date).

3. Inform the school of your intention to keep your children home on that date and explain why.

Take Action NowFor more information or questions, visit Day of Silence Walkout.

It is very important that you forward this alert to your friends and family members.

Tim

Superintendent Bullies Christian Student, Calls Him 'Ignorant'

I urge you to send an email to Shawano Superintendent Todd Carlson. Urge him to immediately apologize for his unconstitutional and irrational censorship and humiliation of student Brandon Wegner.

January 25, 2012

Dear Reader,

School officials at Shawano High School in Wisconsin have censored and punished Brandon Wegner, a 15-year-old, for writing an op-ed article explaining the Biblical view of homosexuality and supporting natural mother-father adoption, according to Liberty Counsel.

After Brandon wrote this article he was pulled into hours of meetings with school administrators and staff, without his parents' knowledge.

Superintendent Todd Carlson told him that the column "went against the bullying policy," and asked him if he "regretted" writing it. According to Liberty Counsel, when Mr. Wegner stated that he did not regret writing it, and that he stood behind his beliefs, Superintendent Carlson told him that he had "to be one of the most ignorant kids to try to argue with him about this topic," that "we have the power to suspend you if we want to" and that the column had "personally offended me, so I know you offended other people!"

Brandon's opinion was a part of an editorial page which presented viewpoints both for and against homosexual adoption, each articulated by a student. After the school newspaper was published in the local town paper, a homosexual in the community complained to the school. School officials then censored Brandon's article, forcing him and his classmates to pull the page out of the newspaper before distribution at the school.

Mathew Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, said "The bullying at Shawano High School is by Superintendent Todd Carlson and the school officials, not the student, Brandon Wegner. The school officials have displayed blatant intolerance of a view on homosexuality held by many people. The school's actions are shocking and unjustified. The superintendent should immediately apologize and stop the bullying."

THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION!
Send an email to Shawano Superintendent Todd Carlson. Urge him to immediately apologize for his unconstitutional and irrational censorship and humiliation of student Brandon Wegner.
Ask Mr. Carlson to publicly acknowledge that, in the future, all students will be allowed to express their religious beliefs, free from bullying and harassment by school administrators, staff and other students.

Here is my email - feel free to use it as a template (there is also a template if you follow the link above)

Dear Mr. Carlson:

I am deeply distressed by your actions against one of your students, Brandon Wegner.
Your actions were very discriminatory and unconstitutional.

Censorship and bullying one of your students because of his religious convictions is discrimination at its worst. Referring to Brandon as "ignorant" is a clear violation of professional ethics.

I urge you to apologize to Brandon and his family immediately.

I also ask you to publicly acknowledge that, in the future, all students will be allowed to express their religious beliefs, free from bullying and harassment by school administrators, staff and other students.

Sincerely,

Steve Gershom's Views on Being Gay and Gay Marriage

I just found a couple of cool blogs . . . . and this post is a good example of why I find both blogs intriguing:  Gay, Catholic and Doing Fine, by Steve Gershom
Here are some excerpts:
I have heard a lot about how mean the Church is, and how bigoted, because she opposes gay marriage. How badly she misunderstands gay people, and how hostile she is towards us. My gut reaction to such things is: Are you freaking kidding me? Are we even talking about the same church?
Where are all these bigoted Catholics I keep hearing about?
Actually, the only time I get shock or disgust or disbelief, the only time I've noticed people treating me differently after I tell them, is when I tell someone who supports the gay lifestyle. Celibacy?? You must be some kind of freak.
If I want open-mindedness, acceptance, and understanding, I look to Catholics.
Is it hard to be gay and Catholic? Yes, because like everybody, I sometimes want things that are not good for me. The Church doesn't let me have those things, not because she's mean, but because she's a good mother. The Church believes, and I believe, in a universe that means something, and in a God who made the universe -- made men and women, designed sex and marriage from the ground up. In that universe, gay marriage doesn't make sense. It doesn't fit with the rest of the picture, and we're not about to throw out the rest of the picture.
If you don't believe in these things, if you believe that men and women and sex and marriage are pretty much whatever we say they are, then okay: we don't have much left to talk about. That's not the world I live in.
So, yes, it's hard to be gay and Catholic -- it's hard to be anything and Catholic -- because I don't always get to do what I want. Show me a religion where you always get to do what you want and I'll show you a pretty shabby, lazy religion. Something not worth living or dying for, or even getting up in the morning for. That might be the kind of world John Lennon wanted, but John Lennon was kind of an idiot.
I strongly encourage you to read the whole post . . . and to visit these blogs, stevegershom.com and Little Catholic Bubble

Chastity is a Man and Satan is Crazy Like a Fox

Isn't it crazy that everyone calls Chaz Bono a man and if you don't, you are a narrow minded bigot?

And how about the woman who calls him/herself a pregnant man?   If you speak against the faulty logic, you may be accused of hate speech.

. . . . . . . yet, today's popular culture refuses to call the fetus in the womb a baby???

I read this on a friend's Facebook status. The first comment was:

"Yeah, it's crazy."

My comment:

Yes, it's crazy . . . . and Satan is crazy like a fox. The warped morality is frightening.
You know that feeling you get when you are watching a scary movie plot line unfold . . . you want to yell at the screen and say, "Get out of there!!" You hear the frightening music swell and you know something bad is going to happen?

Yep. That's the feeling here.

Thank God we know the ultimate end of the "story." I just hope I am doing my best to live my life the way that God wants.

And this brings me to this Sunday's Readings:
Ezekiel 33:7-9
Psalm 95:1-2, 6-9
Romans 13:8-10
Matthew 18:15-20

Notice that both the Gospel and the First Reading presume that believers have a duty to correct sinners in our midst. Ezekiel is even told that he will be held accountable for their souls if he fails to speak out and try to correct them.

This is the love that Paul in Sunday’s Epistle says we owe to our neighbors. To love our neighbors as ourselves is to be vitally concerned for their salvation. We must make every effort, as Jesus says, to win our brothers and sisters back, to turn them from the false paths.

We should never correct out of anger, or a desire to punish. Instead our message must be that of Sunday’s Psalm - urging sinners to hear God’s voice, not to harden their hearts, and to remember that He is the one who made us, and is the rock of our salvation.

Same Sex Marriage Legal in New York

There is some wonderful commentary at National Review Online. Here are some snippets:
What has been gained by the forces behind this act?
Certainly not marriage for same-sex couples.

They have gained a name, but not the thing it names. They have only destroyed a word’s meaning.
And they have harmed the thing it does name, by teaching — one of the things the law does — that marriage has no connection to children and families, but instead is just a bundle of privileges from the government, to be taken up if it is in one’s self-interest.

New York has struck a great blow, in the name of a false “right,” against real freedom. Same-sex marriage is inseparable from authoritarianism, as we will see when New York’s Christians, Jews, and Muslims lose the religious freedom to act on the truth about marriage as they know it.

Same-sex marriage comes to New York on Sunday. Whom will it impact other than the couples involved? The answer is: almost everyone.
The New York legislature did not create a category of marriage called “gay marriage,” but instead redefined marriage for everyone. That means that anyone who doesn’t go along with this new politically inspired understanding of the historic institution of marriage will be treated under the law as the equivalent of a racist.
Already, town clerks with deeply held religious beliefs about marriage have been told they will be fired if they refuse to sanction gay marriages. Some have already been forced to quit. We know from the experience in other states that professionals with strongly held moral beliefs about marriage will be threatened with loss of their professional licenses — and thus their livelihood — if they resist. Christian counselors will be put out of business unless they violate their religious principles and condone gay marriage. Wedding professionals who don’t want to be involved in gay weddings will be sanctioned.
Most troubling, children as young as kindergartners will be taught in school that gay marriage is the same as traditional marriage — and parents will be powerless to do anything about it.
In short, the consequences to society will be profound.
But this is far from over. People all across the state are rallying to restore marriage by putting a constitutional amendment on the ballot. Thousands are attending marches throughout the state on Sunday, and volunteering in droves at www.letthepeoplevote.com. We are determined to let the people of New York have the final say on marriage, just as voters in 31 other states have been able to do.
— Brian S. Brown is president of the National Organization for Marriage.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The sin of impurity looms our society because Christians have become part of the secular cultural norms and look to the government to legislate morality. The truth is, even if government legislate morality, it will not affect our inclinations to commit sin. Laws can't transform or convert hearts, prayers and penance does that! Hence, moral laws will automatically change if hearts are transformed by God

Same-sex “marriage” is not marriage; it is an exercise in frivolity.  At best, a same-sex union can produce entertainment.

Because there are no children, a same-sex “marriage” protects no one. What same-sex “marriage” does is provide the government’s sanction on a peculiar sexual relationship that tends to be both mentally and physically harmful to the participants.

Why Not Legalize Same-Sex Marriage?

A very interesting take . . . .
I think there are some very valid points raised within the article I have included in this post. But . . .
1)  I believe that people who are on the same-sex bandwagon are deluded into thinking it is an equal rights issue. Many liberals seem infatuated with the idea of "allowing" gay people to have the same marriage rights as heterosexual couples.
AS IF the state (the government) legitimizes marriage in some way. The state does not do that.  The Catholic Church legitimizes a union through the sacrament of marriage. The covenant is established.

2) The ball is rolling on legalizing same-sex marriage and I do not see it pausing to ponder the points in the article. Perhaps I am a wee bit cynical.

3)  I do believe that most gay couples (that I know) are most concerned with health insurance and other benefits. I can't tell you how many people bring this up!  Do you get the same feedback?
The gay people I talk to feel they should have the same legal rights to their partner's health benefits and pension and life insurance benefits in the case of a partner's death.
I get the feeling that they are trying to get at those benefits via a legal marriage contract.

4) That is not the reason for marriage! I guess I should let you read the article!

Gay Marriage: Even Liberals Know It's Bad

by Frank Turek @ Townhall.com

Why not legalize same-sex marriage?  Who could it possibly hurt?  Children and the rest of society. That’s the conclusion of David Blankenhorn, who is anything but an anti-gay “bigot.” He is a life-long, pro-gay, liberal democrat who disagrees with the Bible’s prohibitions against homosexual behavior. Despite this, Blankenhorn makes a powerful case against Same-Sex marriage in his book, The Future of Marriage.

He writes, “Across history and cultures . . . marriage’s single most fundamental idea is that every child needs a mother and a father. Changing marriage to accommodate same-sex couples would nullify this principle in culture and in law.”

How so?
The law is a great teacher, and same sex marriage will teach future generations that marriage is not about children but about coupling. When marriage becomes nothing more than coupling, fewer people will get married to have children.

So what?
People will still have children, of course, but many more of them out-of wedlock. That’s a disaster for everyone. Children will be hurt because illegitimate parents (there are no illegitimate children) often never form a family, and those that “shack up” break up at a rate two to three times that of married parents.  Society will be hurt because illegitimacy starts a chain of negative effects that fall like dominoes—illegitimacy leads to poverty, crime, and higher welfare costs which lead to bigger government, higher taxes, and a slower economy.

Are these just the hysterical cries of an alarmist?  No. We can see the connection between same-sex marriage and illegitimacy in Scandinavian countries. Norway, for example, has had de-facto same-sex marriage since the early nineties. In Nordland, the most liberal county of Norway, where they fly “gay” rainbow flags over their churches, out-of-wedlock births have soared—more than 80 percent of women giving birth for the first time, and nearly 70 percent of all children, are born out of wedlock! Across all of Norway, illegitimacy rose from 39 percent to 50 percent in the first decade of same-sex marriage.

Anthropologist Stanley Kurtz writes, “When we look at Nordland and Nord-Troendelag — the Vermont and Massachusetts of Norway — we are peering as far as we can into the future of marriage in a world where gay marriage is almost totally accepted. What we see is a place where marriage itself has almost totally disappeared.” He asserts that “Scandinavian gay marriage has driven home the message that marriage itself is outdated, and that virtually any family form, including out-of-wedlock parenthood, is acceptable.”

But it’s not just Norway. Blankenhorn reports this same trend in other countries.  International surveys show that same-sex marriage and the erosion of traditional marriage tend to go together. Traditional marriage is weakest and illegitimacy strongest wherever same-sex marriage is legal.
You might say, “Correlation doesn’t always indicate causation!”  Yes, but often it does. Is there any doubt that liberalizing marriage laws impacts society for the worse?  You need look no further than the last 40 years of no-fault divorce laws in the United States (family disintegration destroys lives and now costs tax payers $112 billion per year!).

No-fault divorce laws began in one state, California, and then spread to rest of the country. Those liberalized divorce laws helped change our attitudes and behaviors about the permanence of marriage.  There’s no question that liberalized marriage laws   will help change our attitudes and behaviors about the purpose of marriage. The law is a great teacher, and if same-sex marriage advocates have their way, children will be expelled from the lesson on marriage.

This leads Blankenhorn to assert, “One can believe in same-sex marriage. One can believe that every child deserves a mother and a father.  One cannot believe both.”

Blankenhorn is amazed how indifferent homosexual activists are about the negative effects of same-sex marriage on children.  Many of them, he documents, say that marriage isn’t about children.
Well, if marriage isn’t about children, what institution is about children?   And if we’re going to redefine marriage into mere coupling, then why should the state endorse same-sex marriage at all?

Contrary to what homosexual activists assume, the state doesn’t endorse marriage because people have feelings for one another. The state endorses marriage primarily because of what marriage does for children and in turn society. Society gets no benefit by redefining marriage to include homosexual relationships, only harm as the connection to illegitimacy shows. But the very future of children and a civilized society depends on stable marriages between men and women. That’s why, regardless of what you think about homosexuality, the two types of relationships should never be legally equated.

That conclusion has nothing to do with bigotry and everything to do with what’s best for children and society.  Just ask pro-gay, liberal democrat David Blankenhorn.

Anne Rice as an Example of Typical Spiritual Pride

Father Longenecker puts it this way,
"After she publicly announced her renunciation of the Christian religion I wrote her another email saying how sorry I was to hear of her decision and reminding her that not all Christians or Catholics were idiotic, fundamentalist, homophobic bigots. I encouraged her to re-consider and admitted that sticking with the church required huge amounts of humility, stamina and good humor. Anne fell into the trap of mistaking Catholics for Catholicism, and then ruled against Catholicism because of the Catholics. Good heavens, if we all judged Catholicism on the Catholics we'd all come unstuck!

The problem is that, for whatever reason, we feel that we can be the judge of the church and not the other way around. We want the church to live up to our expectations, when in fact, we should be asking how we can ever live up to the church's expectations.

Beneath this problem is good old fashioned spiritual pride. Anne spotted the hateful hypocrites, the lying loonies, the uncaring apologists and pompous prelates and thought she was better than them. What she (and all of us) need to do is see these folks and mutter in shame, "Geesh, they're awful, but they're my brothers and we're all in the same lifeboat, so we'd better pull together." Anne couldn't do that, and like so many of her sort, thought she rose above it all, only now to end up saying stuff that's just as judgmental and shallow and uncaring as the people she was blaming."

Carl Olson's commentary over at Ignatius Insight is also well stated:
"Rice has, in essence, taken up a sort of secularized, liberal Protestantism that attempts—almost Marcion-like—to extract a Jesus from the dust and difficulty and reality of history and turn him into a private guru who is "freed" from and separated from the humanity he embraced, the Church he founded, and the authority he granted to mere mortals. Rice claims her faith is in Christ, but it is a Christ made in her likeness and image: politically correct and socially trendy, anti-Church, disdainful of authority, with an open hostility toward traditional morality."
and
"Note that Rice never, as far as I've seen over the past five years, provided any reasoning or arguments for her stances on issues such as "same sex marriage," contraception, and women's ordination. She simply assumes her position is correct and she apparently believes that clichés and emotive sound bites are all that are needed to demonstrate the validity of her position. Meanwhile, the Church has formally issued all sorts of documents about those various matters and numerous Catholic authors—both at academic and popular levels—have written articles and books explaining and defending Church teaching on these and other issues. Yet, apparently, folks should simply accept by faith Rice's statements as infallible pronouncements of objective truth."

The Pro-Love Anti-Prejudice Generation

A huge H/T to LarryD over @ Acts of the Apostacy    Note that bolding is my emphasis.

First, let's more accurately name this group. They call themselves "The Pro-Love Anti-Prejudice Generation."  I do believe that The Pro-Victimized Anti-Straight Generation is a much better description.  Yep, I think that is much clearer! You tell me.

This group has submitted their latest screed, entitled "The Pro-Love Anti-Prejudice Generation", against the bishops and the Church in the National Catholic Distorter.

Here's the opening paragraph:
The most valuable demographic to the marketing mavens of Madison Avenue is the 18-35 group of Gen. X-ers and Millennials. Now, the leadership of the church is targeting these generations with a marketing blitz to win them to the cause of discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.
Now there's an opening to lay the foundation for common ground and conversation.

Except such folks don't want conversation. They want to treat those who disagree with them in the exact same fashion they have been treated - with shame, scorn and bigotry. Not so "pro-love". It is so important to clarify here that not all those who disagree have treated LGBT people with shame, scorn and/or bigotry. This used to be a simple truth that most people understood and accepted But in today's society if you do not condone you are pegged intolerant.  In today's society those who disagree have been stereotyped as bigoted, prejudiced.
When (and I have asked this many times) did tolerance become synonymous with tacit approval?

This group seeks to trade sin for sin.
I am not discounting those who have been and are prejudiced and bigoted against homosexuals.  Plenty of Catholics, non-Catholics, Protestants, Jews, agnostics and atheists have been - and continue to be - discriminatory against homosexuals. I'm not making excuses for anyone's sins against their fellow man, gay or straight. Since we belong to the mystical body of Christ, since we are all members of one Body, one person's sin afflicts the entire body. That's a metaphysical theological truth.

And another truth, one that has been taught since the beginning, is that homosexual acts are immoral, and depending on the individual's disposition, they are mortal sins. The Church, in upholding that teaching, is not being discriminatory or prejudiced. It is an act of love to teach the truth - not an act of bigotry. The Church is acting like a loving parent, maintaining safe boundaries for all Her wayward children.

And, of course, not everyone sees it that way. There are plenty who see the boundaries as unfair and unjust.

The pro-gay crowd believes they are seeking justice, but given the rhetoric on display from coast to coast, and in articles such as this, what they really seek is reparation.
It would not surprise me if some privately agree with the SLPC's recent list of anti-gay groups, and want to have them identified as 'hate groups'.  It would not surprise me if the more militant members among them desire an eye for an eye - maybe even two eyes, an ear and a few fingers for an eye. Again - not so "pro-love".

So they enlist focus groups and polls in order to make their case, and they use the data to (hopefully) wear down the bishops and win support for their cause. They might win support, but as for the Church changing Her teaching? Not gonna happen. Marriage will be taught as one man + one woman, and homosexual acts will still be intrinsically evil. That's just the way it will be.

When faith is reduced to politics and marketing, you end up with ideology and preferences. You end up with consensus. But you rarely, if ever, end up with Truth. And you ultimately end up with zero faith.

Such folks are unwilling to rise out of the muck and mire of sin - rather, they want everyone else down there with them. But Christ came to save us from our sin, not tell us it was okay to wallow there in misery. And that's the ironic thing - even if they get their way on the issue of so-called gay marriage, they'll still be in misery.

Larry's blog, Acts of the Apostasy, is well worth the visit. I have quoted his post (w/ slight editing) here - in full - because it needed no adjustment in my opinion.

I am so very grateful to the authors, website and blog owners for sharing this information, commentary, and knowledge.

I think these two sentences Larry wrote are worth repeating . . .

Check this out - WARNING! you will be shaking your head in disgust at the way this "Reverend" warps Word of God:
Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ talks with Rev. John Makokha, senior pastor of Riruta United Methodist Church in Nairobi, Kenya. He is the African correspondent for Reconciling Ministries Network and the Country Coordinator of Other Sheep Kenya Trust, a faith-based LGBTI organization. John is the Africa Author of Reconciling Ministries Network. He passionately runs educational awareness seminars on human sexuality and gender identity programs to address religious homophobia and transphobia in Kenya with his wife Anne.

You can click on the link (OUTTAKE VOICES™) to hear this interview. This is part of it.

When asked what he thought about American religious leaders' influence on Africa, Makokha stated,
“I’m really concerned about the American Fundamental Christian leaders who are very, very homophobic. I think what America needs to do is focus on what the bible says about human sexuality and gender identity and maybe try to reach out in Christian awareness and maybe have conferences with Fundamental Christian Religious leaders so they can tone down their red flags on homosexuality. I’m sorry to say it is a big concern in Africa that we respect each other's opinions but the Fundamentalist Evangelical Christian leaders from America have been transporting homophobia to Africa. The best example is the bill in Uganda and even in Kenya and other parts of Africa have been receiving big chunks of money to propagate heterosexuality and propagate homophobia.”

Bullying v. Social Engineering

Guest Author: Joseph Hebert

UPDATE!
This discussion (in the comments following the post)  ended with that friend admitting that she is no longer a Christian. While I can accept that, I cannot accept someone pretending to be a Christian and stringing us along by arguing an issue from an allegedly Christian standpoint, complete with Bible references, etc.

I would not pretend to be a Muslim and lob all sorts of Q'uran references at a Muslim just to attempt to change his mind. I consider such dishonesty to be cowardly and sick, and said as much. I'm praying that the friend in question puts down the booze, steps away from the new lesbian whacko bar-friends, and returns to Christ before it is too late.

It's worth noting that during her brief sojourn as a Christian, she was in one of those non-denominational mega-churches that teach nothing, tell you whatever you want to hear, and pump you up on an emotional high in order to sell you books, CD's, DVD's, and so on. It's like eating candy and coke for lunch- it kills the hunger briefly and seems fun, but leads to an inevitable crash. Christ told Peter to feed his sheep, not just to turn the sheep loose and let them find food on their own. This is an example of why church affiliation matters. I thank God for the Bible and for a Church with the courage to teach it.

Here is the original post followed by the comments to which I refer:

The anti-bullying efforts of schools have apparently become a pro-homosexuality platform by which to guilt-trip and intimidate heterosexual kids who openly disapprove of homosexual conduct.
This agenda is presently receiving much fuel from the recent suicide of 1 or more young homosexuals, which has outpaced both of our nation's wars in news coverage.

When someone commits suicide, there's only 1 person to blame- the person who murdered himself. No one can force you to kill yourself. People have survived Nazi concentration camps (my grandpa), brutal and repeated rape, false imprisonment (Gandhi, MLK, Mandela), and not killed themselves. Suicide is for cowards who have no love for their families or the for the God who gave them life.

I pity hardcore mental cases and addicts who commit suicide, including 3 friends of mine who died young. But most suicides are just people who have been conditioned by our liberal society to expect instant gratification with no contradictions, a life with no self-denial and no self-sacrifice. They don't know how to respond to guilt, shame, disappointment, or frustration because they have an entitlement mentality.

No one can emotionally blackmail this Christian nation into condoning unnatural and evil conduct. I would never commit violence against gay people or condone such violence. I love them enough to pray that they repent. I love them enough to warn them that their conduct is sick and will lead to sickness of both body and soul. I just can't picture the God who inseparably mingled love and life approving of a selfish form of love that is hopelessly incapable of making life.

I understand homosexuals well because I am one of them. By that, I mean that I too am a human who faces the daily (hourly, even!) temptation to sin. Any alcoholic living sober (and I know at least one) can attest to God's grace and man's free will working together to overcome an evil inclination that the individual may have been born with.

We are all, both gay and straight, asked to confine our sexuality to its natural, God-given purpose. And when we fail, we should try to do better rather than demanding that the human community rewrite its religions and laws and lower its standards by rejecting natural and divine law to keep us "happy".

UPDATE:
The comments over on FB provide even more information, food for thought and excellent evangelizing.

THE AUTHOR NOTES:
I wrote that in response to a church-going, Bible-studying friend who asked " Who's wearing purple today in memory of recent suicide due to gay abuse?"

Here's her response, in which she calls my response "sad, irritating, judgmental, and hypocritical"...

SHE WRITES:
"people who...don't know how to respond to guilt, shame, disappointment, or frustration because they have an entitlement mentality" are not that way by their own fault. As you said, they" have been conditioned by our liberal society". If a child is raised in the wild, he will act wild. You can't blame people who haven't been shown how to have "self-denial and sacrifice" because they weren't born to a loving family and they are in so much pain and feel they have no where to turn and no one who cares. Try to open your mind and have some empathy. It's sad, and actually quite irritating, when someone throws God's name around while judging others about something they don't understand. It makes Christians look like many people think: judgmental and hypocritical...No wonder.

MY RESPONSE:
there's an obvious difference between judging a person versus judging an act. I don't judge drunks, but I surely judge drunk driving. And I'm sure God doesn't mind being quoted, even though I know that's out of style on the feel-good buy-my-book entertainment church-of-the week circuit.

And yes, we HAVE all been shown examples of self-denial and sacrifice, assuming we all had parents or grandparents who sacrificed to raise us. And assuming that we stop and wonder who's the guy hanging on the cross (do they still allow crucifixes in churches, or is it too much a downer?)

My best friend in high school was gay and I never dropped him for it, even when others did. But I didn't tell him whatever he wanted to hear, either. Sometimes loving people involves telling them uncomfortable truths. Sometimes it means telling a drunk to put down the wine bottle, a lazy person to get a job, and telling a homosexual to practice self-restraint.

And yes, I understand homosexuality. Because homosexuals are human, like me. Which means that they have free will, temptation, and are expected to join the rest of us in practicing self-control.

You have no idea what I do or don't understand and shouldn't resort to the trite liberal cliche of calling people closed-minded and not empathetic just for disagreeing with you.

HER RESPONSE:
Now you're attacking other churches, which you have never attended. Do you honestly think that Woodlands Church doesn't quote God?? Really?? Not that I disagree with the "feel good church" and your opinion of it, therefore, that point is null and void. All churches aside, allow me to quote some Jimmy Needham:
      “We pass out paper facts all week but they won’t come around;
      Apologetic reasoning, but they won’t come around, come around;
There’s only one way they’ll come and it’s LOVE!”

And no, not everyone has been shown examples of self denial and sacrifice, at least not in a way that is recognized as such. If a child has his basic needs met, he has clothes, food and roof over his head, but his parents don't express love and affection, don't pay attention to him, leaves him home to go out and party or whatever, basically does not meet their emotional needs, and/or are emotionally and/or physically abuses the child, is that self sacrifice? Do you think the child would recognize the fact that he has a roof over his head and food in his belly as self sacrifice in this situation? This is actually quite common. I was emotionally neglected all through my childhood. As a result...well, I won't disclose all my issues, but I had them. Thankfully, I worked through them. Some people are not that fortunate and no, they shouldn’t be blamed. People, in general, do the best they can with what they have. You should know this as well or better than anyone.

You don’t judge people, just actions. Who appointed you judge and jury of anyone OR any act??? “Thou shalt not judge…”…writing in the sand, J. C’mon. I don’t think Jesus would approve, J. You have no business throwing any stones. No one does.

Crucifixes at the church, well, again, you're attacking other churches and that's beside the point.

I thought this was about suicide?? Not gays? This is about people, straight or gay, who feel so hopeless, with nowhere to turn that they feel their only way out of the pain is to take their own lives. Yea, it is a selfish act. It would be much more selfless to be martyrs and continue to endure the suffering, or better yet, get some help and work through their issues. But, considering that most suicides are committed by adolescence, there is a good chance that the opportunity to get help was never presented to them. As a teenager of an alcoholic and neglectful mother, an abusive step dad and an absent father, even when my mom died when I was 15, help was never presented to me. I wanted help, but no one was paying any attention to me. So, just maybe, you don't understand what other people are feeling because you are not them; you are you. What I suggest is that if you can't empathize with other people because you obviously don't “feel” that way that you realize and appreciate that you don't understand how they feel and not judge them for how they handle their problems. Some people are incapable of dealing with their problems the way we can and they don’t have to be hardcore mental cases for God to “go easy” on them.

Speaking the truth in love is all well and good, and necessary, but that's not really the issue here, is it? When you say “tell the homosexual to practice self-restraint”, what exactly are you referring to? Them committing suicide or practicing homosexuality? Once again, this isn't about sexual preference, it's about bullying PEOPLE to the point that they feel the only escape from the pain is taking their lives!!! That is the issue.

Since you seem so hell bent on focusing on sexual preference, let’s do that. Homosexuals go as far back as written history, no? Obviously they were around in Biblical days; however, always with a sinful light shined upon them. Meanwhile, our beloved David, the man after God’s own heart, not only covets his neighbor’s wife, but commits adultery with her, gets her pregnant, tries to cover it up by sending his loyal servant, Bathsheba’s husband, home to have sex with her, and when that doesn’t work (because he is so loyal), sends the poor guy to the front lines to have him killed. Do gay people do that???? Give me an f’n break! Leave the gay people alone! There are plenty of people who can attribute to “make life”, obviously! Between me and you alone, we have 10 kids!!See More

MY RESPONSE:
Your original post wove together 3 topics- suicide, abuse, and homosexuality. I believe that all 3 are gravely wrong. You obviously feel that suicide is wrong too, or you wouldn't care one way or the other. And you obviously fee...l that abuse... is wrong. And you feel that abusers are sometimes guilty of driving others to suicide. That's 3 moral judgments on your part.

From there you go on to claim that Christians are somehow forbidden to judge the moral quality of human conduct. That in itself is a judgment. Then you judge that anyone disagreeing is close minded and not empathetic, which is in itself close minded and not empathetic in response.

The real question is whether you want to obey and share the teachings of the God of the Bible or the god of this world. Telling people whatever they want to hear and ignoring their self-destructive conduct isn't love- it's a lie. When Lucifer poses as God, he does so by promising "freedom" and a warped sense of self-love that empowers sin rather than empowering us to rise against sin. He builds churches where you can feel good without having to BE good.

There's no point calling yourself a Christian and going to church if you're going to pick and choose which parts of the Bible to obey based on what's popular at this time in the world. Homosexual conduct, according to both the Old and the New Testaments, is a terrible sin. So is suicide. So is abuse. Agree or disagree, but don't warp or ignore God's Word to fit the political flavor of the week.

God is the God of life. Any act which gravely disrespects life- suicide, abuse, abortion, homosexuality- is evil. If someone rejects God by rejecting life and life-giving love in this world, what makes you think God will force that person to be with Him in the next world?

RESPONSE FROM LESBIAN FRIEND:
Deleted too quickly for me to copy and paste! But she said that "people like me" are slowing the pace of progress in our society. She also proceeded to say that she'd never have an abortion but that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

MY RESPONSE:
Thanks for the good news. Giving me credit for helping stop what you call "progress" really makes me feel like all my efforts as a Christian educator and political activist are worthwhile. You just helped me through a major period of self-doubt. High-5!

Seriously, rest assured that God loves you and other homosexuals. So do I. He also loves alcoholics enough to ask them to refrain from drinking. He loves suicidal people enough to give them life. He loves you so much that he doesn't want to leave you wallowing in self-destructive conduct that contradicts the plan he wrote into both nature and Bible.

If you re-read what I wrote, I did indeed address the fact that many suicides are due to extenuating circumstances such as addiction and mental illness. I even noted that 3 good friends of mine died that way.

Concerning abortion, it is indeed a choice. Murder is one of the oldest choices humans have exercised on earth. And if you insist that abortion isn't wrong, but then simultaneously insist you'd never have one, then that doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't you ever do it? How can YOU be so closed minded as to rule out ever having a "medical procedure" that you insist isn't wrong?

And even though you choose to sling labels such as "ignorant" while complaining of abuse, I will not reply in kind. Instead, I will pray that you will join the thousands of people who escape the gay lifestyle, recognize abortion as genocide, and realize that God doesn't just want to tickle your heart- he wants to change it.

ANOTHER PERSON JUMPS IN:

Hey, to add to you comments, I just wanted to say that everyone that follows the bible "picks and chooses", it is a book filled with contradictions that if you tried to follow every single"rule" in it you would end up stoned to death or at least thinking you deserve it.
This comes down to 1 single truth...these kids were KIDS! Do we know if they had anyone to tell them "life will be OK". I'm guessing they didn't and that their parents probably weren't to supportive because the Bible told them their kids were abominations and didn't deserve love. Add to that...being picked on in school...living life in fear, and being physically abused. Do you know what hopeless feels like? Obviously you don't. God has nothing to do with what happened...Jesus taught love did he not...where is the love in that? Tough love? I think we have proven it does not work.

MY RESPONSE:
Let me restate for 4th time that I don't approve of verbal or physical violence against anyone, especially kids.

Let me also restate for the 4th time that I expect God's judgment of a suicide is swayed by the person's mental state.

It seems that you are deliberately mischaracterizing what I've said in an effort to pigeonhole and stereotype, and then dismiss my point.
That in itself is abusive and closed minded and  not empathetic.

Concerning the Bible, both Jesus and St. Paul stated repeatedly that the Christian is not required to follow Old Testament food taboos, etc. But when Jesus himself spoke about marriage in the New Testament, he did so in terms of 1 man and 1 woman. He even went 1 further than the Jews by forbidding divorce. The writings of the apostles in the NT and the non-Biblical writings of early Christian leaders affirm a strict attitude towards human sexuality.

You may find me arrogant, but that's nothing compared to the arrogance of taking a black magic marker to your Bible and rewriting God's word to suit your politics. If God's Word weren't challenging, it wouldn't be worth our time, and it wouldn't be worth dying for. I'm not looking to dumb down Jesus into a male version of Oprah just so I can walk a wider, easier road.

MY CLOSING RESPONSE to my church-going, Bible-studying friend who doesn't consider suicide and homosexual conduct sinful:

Jesus ate and drank with sinners and whores. But he didn't give them high-5's for their conduct. Mary Magdalene stopped turning tricks once she started following Christ. If you really love homosexuals, love them enough to tell them they're risking spiritual self-destruction. You owe your fellow children of God that much. Seek to give love instead of selfishly seeking to gain the love of others at all costs.

My hope in cutting and pasting the entire exchange is to protect it from being FURTHER deleted by people are ashamed of what they've expressed. Shame is good if it helps people change the behavior. This conversation shows what ignorance dominates the godless, including wishy-washy flavor-of-the week churches that just milk people for money and fill them with cotton candy. Whether you are Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, or any other traditional school of Christianity, this is why we have to fight the good fight to keep our churches rooted in God's Word as it has been understood by 2,000 years of martyrs who died for it! If sin and hell weren't real, then what did Jesus "save" us from? Why did he preach that we must "repent" if we can get into the Kingdom exactly as we already are? These people call Jesus himself a liar, then claim to love him, thus betraying him with a kiss.

June is "Celebrate Sexual Deviancy Month" - No, really, it is!

I'll let Jeff Miller and Jimmy Akin tell you about this because I am not feeling so well - kind of dizzy.  I almost wish I didn't know this!

Quoted from The Curt Jester (Jimmy Akin):
Jimmy Akin on President Obama’s proclamation that June 2010 is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.
So there you have it. President Obama taking credit for all he has done to normalize the open practice of sexual deviancy in our society, as well as measures he’d like to take in the future to further normalize it, including “creat[ing] safer schools so all our children may learn in a supportive environment.”
I wonder if he’d like to require private schools to be “safer” in this way?
And I wonder where all this is going and how long it will be until gets there.
Tolerance and “safe environments” will continue to become the blunt records used against anybody who does not believe that sexual deviancy is a right that must be normalized. Not accepting this behavior will get you labeled in oh so many ways and no doubt with words that end in ‘phobe.’  How long before the travesties that have occurred in Canada and England come our way is a good question.  The real tragedy is that those who are afflicted with same-sex attraction or other disordered desires are confirmed in their sin instead of being helped.
So, what month is Adultery Pride month?
ππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππππ

Here is the official proclamation posted on the White House web site
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 2010 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.  I call upon all Americans to observe this month by fighting prejudice and discrimination in their own lives and everywhere it exists.

The Bible against Contraception

I recently watched a comment discussion unfold on my FaceBook page about abortion. I posted a video about Margaret Sanger and, well, things took off from there.
I read back over the comments and I think that maybe one of the pro-choice writers may have had an abortion. She was "all over the place" in her comments. They were barely coherent. Her husband's were also very erratic and without logic.
I get the feeling that they understand that an abortion takes the life of another human being. It seems to me that they are still trying to rationalize it.
Please pray for these two people and all who are so misguided and under Satan's strong influence.

The whole incident has me delving into Scripture and trying to organize resources . . . . I found this wonderful reference list over @ Crucified Rabbi.

Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons of one's youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them!
He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate. (Psalm 127:4-5)

Human fertility is a blessing
Gen 1:27-28 – be fruitful and multiply
Ex 23:25-26; Deut 7:13-14 – fertility declared a covenantal blessing
Ps 127:3-5 – children are a gift from God…blessed is a quiver full
Hos 9:10-17 – Israel punished with childlessness
1 Tim 2:11-15 – women saved through childbearing
Lev 21:20 – crushed testicles called defect/blemish
Deut 23:1 – castrated men banned from OT worship

Withholding self and seed is unnatural and sinful
Gen 38:9-10 – Onan killed by God for spilling his semen on the ground
Acts 5:1-11 – Ananias/Saphira slain for withholding part of their gift

The OT punishes sterile sex with death
Lev 20:13 – death sentence for man with man (sterile sex)
Lev 20:15 – death sentence for man with animal (sterile sex)
Lev 20:16 – death sentence for woman with animals (sterile sex)

Artificial means of contraception condemned
Gal 5:20; Rev 9:2; Rev 21:8
These three passages condemn “sorcery”. However, the Greek word used is pharmakeia, a word denoting pharmaceutical contraceptives and abortificants.
